I'm glad you got a chance to head to the beach! Yes, today looked like a great beach day... it's just too bad I'm working nights and slept through most of it.

I hope we get one more chance before the snow flies... Anything is possible with Wisconsin weather.

Winter isn't *too* long... I'm usually out hiking in March, only 4 months away. Hang in there -- Wisconsin summers are worth the wait.

Good post, Steve. To deny our sexuality is counterproductive and may even be putting people off on nudism.N had an interesting piece on Naturism and Sexual Wellbeing in the Fall issue.

It's one of those things that's hard to explain. Sure, it's a little bit sexual but not in the overt , blatant way we usually think about sexuality. It's very subtle and non-threatening in a healthy sort of way that's difficult for many non-nudists tp understand.

Admin: Yeah Rick, it's as if we're trying so hard trying to avoid appearing to be that which we perceive the general public to see us as being (ie: sexual perverts) that we go too far in the other direction by portrating ourselves as sexless, emotionless naked zombies.
There's an old saying: "A woman has to work twice as hard as a man and do twice as good to be considered half as good".

I fear we have put ourselves in the position of that woman.

ps. Both your site and Academic Naturist tell me I don't own this site and won't let me comment sometimes. Any ideas?

what? It's *not* true? I'm glad I read the comments before I stepped out of my apartment door as I am dressed now, in my God given garment.

@_@

Me: "What'cha in for"
Inmate: "Murder while committing a bank robbery. And you?"
Me: "Public nudity"
Inmate: "GUARD! I want a different cell!"

Admin: LOL !

I love JOB actually, possibly because the main character, for once, isn't Heinlein - and because he's a really unpleasant person who does grow and change as the book progresses. I'm a bit of a Heinlein nut to be honest, I have almost all of his books. his older work was very sexist but considering when he started out I tend to dismiss it as an era thing. He very much influenced my attitudes on a lot of things- including nudity. one of my goals in life is to have a tertius social refresher!

lol Steve! don't worry, I have you in my rss feeds so I don't miss out :D

Admin: Yeah, I grew up on all those 'golden age' sci-fi writers, and you do have to keep things in context. Heinlen isn't the only one that makes me squirm a bit nowdays but it's all in good fun.

I've long felt that exposure to science fiction at an early age can help shape the adult's attitudes and personality. The enjoyment of SF itself requires a certain amount of 'liberal' brain alignment to be able to not only accept the impossible as possible but God forbid, maybe even better than the status quo. Definately NOT a conservative concept!

Steve,

So glad to see you back on the keyboard a bit. Reading your post brought tears of joy to my eyes. It's so wonderful to hear your voice and insightful perspective. Thanks for checking in and updating us all.

Here's hoping the best for you. I trust you will "take it easy, but take it" one day at a time. Remember that even our "miserable god-forsaken" winter days are filled with magical precious moments to experience and savor.

Give Angie a hug for us, and feel free to call for ANY reason at ANY time.
