I know you're waiting on the edge or your chair. The bat hasn't been seen, yet. It's still scary to walk down the dark hall to the bathroom in the middle of the night....

Ah, my first time. You never forget your first time, do you? Well, it was last summer, in June. I'd been a home nudist for quite a while and wanted to give social nudism a try. I learned that a non-landed club in Columbus was visiting a venue so I contacted them and made arrangements to go. I had a bit of trouble finding the place as vandals had knocked down the club's roadside landmark. But I did find it. I was greeted by a naked lady on a golf cart. I paid the ground fee and followed her down to the campsite.

Once I parked, I got out of my truck and strippped down. Any apprehension I felt disappeared with my clothing. I grabbed my towel, walked over to the pond, and stepped in. The water was cold but I waded in until I was chest deep. I waded back out and sat down at a nearby picnic table (on my towel, of course) and spend the day shooting the breeze with the others from the club. It felt perfectly natural to be sitting around naked and sipping lemonade with other naked folk. That was my baptism into social nudism.

Holy smoly! The f***ing bat got out of the room and just swooped me!

I swear, it's as big as an eagle, or at least a robin...

It's trying to kill me.

Chased it around some more, opened the sliding door and maybe it went out, dunno. A true monster, though.

Turned all the ceiling fans on high (fairly effective against bats, I've found). will search for a while and try to get some sleep for an early AM. Looking at four hours' sleep now. If I can wind down. Adreniline, you know.

Next life: independantly wealthy, new house, no bats!

OK, so let's kick this off with Steve's first time.

Previous wife, that doesn't matter. I'd always wanted to try ths nudist thing, since I was a kid, but, well, you know.

Circumstances in life led me to say 'What the hell, why not?' Wife wasn't interested until I mentioned that a neighbor's sister would come with if she didn't.

Different work schedules, plan was for me to check in and set up the camper. Got there early Friday scared to death, few folks around and nobody naked. Did I miss something? Then a nude guy walked past and off went my clothes.

Met my wife later at the gate while chatting with a bunch of folks. Wife freaked. 'You're naked!'

Well, duh!

15 (I swear) minutes later she was also. Some years later, after divorce, she kept the membership and the permanent trailer we had bought there. Another convert!

Ladies, try it. You'll like it!

I've seen several of these commercials that use nude beaches and nudists and the one thing that strikes me about all of them, even though they don't portray anything negative about them, they still show how uncomfortable people are with public nudity. In the cell phone commercial, they never answer the little girl's quiestion, "Why are those people naked?"

" the very idea of a nude beach both tittilates and repulses non-nudists" That's so true. In America everyone wants to see naked bodies on television but the moment one appears, there's moral outrage. How long was Janet Jackson's nipple exposed on national TV? Most people weren't sure what they had seen until they rewound their Tivo and played it back frame by frame. And who was harmed by it? I'd venture to say no one.

A National Nude Day, I like that idea. This morning I was doing some work in my front yard. I was hot and sweaty and my clothes stuck to me like a second skin. I would have been so much more comfortable doing those chores in the nude but that just wasn't going to happen. I'd sure there would have been indignant complaints, cops, news crews, and moral outrage galore. We do want we can, I guess.

Came home from work a couple days ago and found Angie picking various mouse parts up from the floor. "is that a leg over there?' 'Looks like a tail by your foot.' Good kitty.

Yesterday they got another one. Here's hoping they'll get the whole nest!

You're correct. There is a difference between the
'reactionary' ie, neo-conservative, and the'Goldwater conservative' who would have defended to the death the rights which are currently being supressed as a reaction to a changing world.

I sincerely hope that most conservatives fit that second catagorie. I was raised as one and it took a war and most of the following administrations to convince me that both groups have extremists and opportunists that promote ideas harmful to the citizins of this country.

And there is a difference between the 'Abby Hoffman' radical and the contemporary progressive liberal. It's ironic that the 'big government' Left is the group most concerned about the loss of those traditional American freedoms.

The message of the post was to remind us that we live a lifestyle 'radical' to both sides, as do other folks with different lifestyles or gender preferences.

If we ally too closely with them some of their 'tarnish' rubs off on us. If we shun them, we risk being 'reactionary' ourselves, not to mention losing the benefits of solidarity.

Actually I thought I had made that convoluted connection pretty well, and Angie agreed, but maybe not. Maybe Angie knows me so well and how my mind makes connections that she's not such a great editor.

But hey, that's what y'all's for! Thanks for putting your two cent's worth in (actually, what with inflation, about $16.50)!

There are many "conservative" nudists. I consider myself to be one. I think it a mistake to lump all conservatives in one basket . Rather than "clinging to old ideas and not embracing new one", I prefer to state that I cling to ideas that are consistent with my core values. "Conservative" is not equal to "reactionary" just as "nudity" does not equal "sex" (just as "liberal" does not necessarily mean "progressive" - it depends upon your definition of progress).

If long term cost to the insurance companies was a major factor, it would make more sense to NOT help enable men to make babies and to HELP women to avoid having them.

In reality, the companies know that the odds are that neither party is likely to keep the same insurance for the 18 years of potential health care a baby would require.

Insurance companies don't give a damn about your health or well-being, only short-term profits.

That debate aside, the point of the posting is the abysmal ignorance of the man-who-would-be-president.

He wasn't even aware of the issue, let alone his own previous vote on it. The man is old, out of touch, and his mind seems to be slipping.

My father died in his 80's, sharp and active until the end. Not everyone is that lucky.

This is such a non-issue. The two topics are not even remotely related. Viagra is a drug used to treat an illness (something insurance is intended to pay for). Birth control is a drug intended to treat a healthy person (something insurance companies do - if they feel like it will save them money in the long run by preventing future claims for illnesses). Claiming that women are entitled to coverage for birth control is ridiculous and naive.
