An Inspiration – Out of the Blue

I recently purchased of a piece of art.  The piece is called ‘OVA’ and if you’ve read Steve’s blogs you’ll know the story.

In short, Steve came upon an artist’s website and had e-mailed the artist for permission to use an image of one of her paintings.  I usually (not always) edit his blogs and checked out the link to the artist’s web page.

I came upon ‘OVA’ and for the first time in my life I wanted to own a painting.  I actually told Steve that “it spoke to me”!  I never thought I would utter those words in my life but they came out.

The next day I thought I would wake up thinking I had made some horrible mistake so I immediately brought up the picture again.  Again, I was spellbound.  Steve didn’t see the same thing I saw in the painting but I guess that’s how art works.  I don’t know if it speaks to all women but  ‘she’ certainly did speak volumes to me.

I now call her my muse because she came into my life at a time when all sorts of wonderful things were taking place.  I have a wonderful husband, we have great kids and grandkids and we are living in a vibrant city.  For all of these blessings I have not, for a number of years, been able to write.

Writing had been my passion since I was seven years old.  Some time in my forties I lost the passion and ability to even put a sentence together.  That upset me but since everything else in my life was a bit chaotic I put it down to temporary writer’s block.  That block lasted over 10 years!

I couldn’t  understand why I took to the painting but then found out it was titled ‘OVA’.  The artist was rendering a woman’s rebirth.  An egg hatching into all she could be.  That was just what I needed.  That simple.

I haven’t written in a long time because I just plain couldn’t but I now feel a little inspired.

I hope every woman who reads this will try to find her muse.  You can be what you wanted to be and I hope it doesn’t take you this long to find it out.

For me it was a beautiful work of art by a very talented and impressive woman.   And to the artist, Jennie Rosenbaum, I am forever indebted.

I am not an agent for Jennie, nor did I know anything about her or her work, until Steve happened upon it so I guess I have him to thank also.  I’ll just add this to the long list of other things I have to thank him for!   – Angie
