North East Skinny Dip 2016 will be our FIFTH anniversary dip!!! Isn’t that wonderful?! It’s hard to believe our annual dip is now 5 years old and we are still growing in size and popularity every year. Much gratitude and kudos to all of you who have continued to support the event and helped keep that momentum up. Thank goodness y’all don’t tire of celebrating yourselves, life and nature in this crazy and delicious way.  If you have joined us before you will understand that there is no better way to celebrate the summer and welcome the winter than stripping down to skin, at sunrise, and running wild and free into the North Sea with literally HUNDREDS of other people!!! The dip is planned for Sunday 25th September 2016.  We will dip with the rising sun at 06.59 and, as always, we ask dippers to arrive in plenty of time. The sun waits for no man. Or woman!  As a guide it is advisable to be on the beach, ready to dip by 06.30.  At previous events we have been blessed with clear skies and stunning views!  We have yet to be blessed with rain…NESD 2016 will take place on the beautiful stretch of beach behind Druridge Bay Country Park. There is plenty of FREE parking space. In keeping with the ethos of the event and to ensure minimum impact on the environment, we invite you to car pool with friends (and strangers alike) when travelling to and from the event.  We will gather post-skinny dip to share our experiences and hold the buzz and fill our cold but happy and oh-so-proud tummies with hot drinks and food!For the first time ever The Magic Hat Café will be providing us with a breakfast barbeque. On the beach! The Magic Hat Café aims to abolish avoidable food waste by ‘upcycling’ surplus food to feed the community. The café is run entirely by eco-conscious volunteers trying to make a difference in our world. I am so excited to be supporting their work and to have them at NESD. I am hoping that many of you will be able to stay and gather post-dip to share your experiences and hold the buzz! A vision I have held since the very beginning!On-site camping in 2015 was very successful and ridiculously fun and silly.  There is plenty of camping space. Join us! Only £4.50 per person! We will burn a fire and sing and dance and be generally celebratory. I shall endeavour to allocate a peaceful/gentle/family field.  However, due to the early start on Sunday it’s really important that all campers (yes, even the drunk ones!) consider other campers and wholly respect our request for ‘Lights out! No noise!” after midnight. Tickets for camping are available here at our eventbrite event. We want to ensure the event runs safely and efficiently. There is, therefore, a registration fee.  This offsets the cost of insurance, amenities and first aid cover.  Consider it a pledge to charity because all surplus funds will be donated to our chosen charity MIND-The Mental Health Charity, who have supported the event since its creation.  This year for the first time we decided to pass on the eventbrite fees to you, the dipper, to maximise our donation to MIND. This was a difficult decision and we hope you will support us in it.  Your registration pledges alone allow us to donate thousands to charity each year!  Since 2012 we have raised well over £15,000 for charity. And we want to raise much more!!! We do encourage you to get sponsorship for the event.
